Can someone explain to me (in small words because I have not had my coffee yet) what they believe Pottermore is going to be about?

Can I get excited yet or do I need to keep clutching my pearls and hoping this is going to be cool?

Hi Rita!! It looks to me that it will be both a place of more canon/backstory, which will be good for fandom (plot bunnies, debates, more to go on in many cases with side characters), and also a place for AU. If fans like us are shaping the stories, that means we are getting to pick backstory, and it seems she must have a place for different permutations of things.

Like, if Pottermore opens Fabian Prewett's backstory, 500 people will write it, and then 1,000 more can write a fic set in any one of those versions of backstory. That is what I think it will be, with JKR herself writing some of the backstories.

There will be romance, I am sure, and zero explicit anything, but I wonder if slash of the pg level will be allowed if het is. I mean, simply relationship getting together stories, or past loves.... yes, I would guess that gay love and pining would have to be as welcome as het.

I don't think it's any different than what we already do, lol! But we'd be great at building it. I hope some of us participate; we have so much experience building out characters and new plots with canon as our guide.

And yeah - I think this might be kinda cool. Might be .. nothing much of interest but idek - I still think it's pretty cool to learn bits and bobs of characters.

I doubt it. Maybe if canon has character as gay, but taking a 'portrayed as straight' character and portraying them as gay would likely not be acceptable in that type of forum. :/
