Can someone explain to me (in small words because I have not had my coffee yet) what they believe Pottermore is going to be about?

I've been wondering for a few weeks now!

From what she said, I guess it's just a place where she could share the behind the scenes stories about the things that makes up the Harry Potter universe - like an interactive encyclopaedia of sorts.

Seriously, Maggie, it's nothing to be excited over. An interactive game. Some McGonagall background. And supposedly 180,000 words of new content not in a book. I could give a fuck about any of this. Really disappointed.

Its basically an interactive ebook, extra info about the Harry Potter world and people and a sorta RPG where we all can be students of Hogwarts and get sorted and all that lot. Im still kinda excited about the whole thing even though the announcement didnt really live up to its hype~

As much as that shit is annoying when it messes with your head canon, one thing it does is KEEP FANDOM ALIVE with new ideas and new things to talk about.

I hate that her interviews said stuff like 'Teddy is not a werewolf' (because I happen to like wolfy!Teddy but facts at least give us more and more to build on!

But yeah, extra canonical info about the books - maybe the history of the Wizarding world and other facts - and we get to take part in it somehow. I heard that they'll be games, competitions and things too.

I don't mind all the additional info she has thrown at us so far. The beauty about fanfics and fanart is, you can bend facts and make things as AU as you want. xD

I'm not big on 'games' and such but FACTS I like ... FACTS. call me crazy but it's the universe of HP that inspires me. And to find out... idek... something cool like an entire missing segment of Snape's life - whatever - THAT WOULD ROCK.

As much as I hated that silly prequel with Sirius and James, it added yet another layer to canon.

and yes CASSIOPIA? IS SO WRONG. Not the least of which because I forgot the E. :P

Thank you! I think the whole thing is marketing genius and I'm very interested in it from THAT perspective. LOL. But also I'm pretty grabby hands about the ~extra info.

though that might not live up to its hype too.

I gotta admire JKR for milking this for all it's worth knowing how to keep the franchise alive and fresh.

Entire missing segment of Snape's life - we'll probably get that! :D I mean, it's like the whole backstory of Dean that didn't make it into the first book - I reckon each character has some missing segment too.

I'd love to read about them, but I might not treat them as my canon. xD

What I think it is going to be: A place for canon compliant fanart, a community for the fans maybe incorporating some kind of game (I read something about the possibility of being sorted, getting a wand...), some new background stories from JKR and, of course, a shop.

Honestly, I just think they are trying to keep the franchise alive, now that the last film is about to hit the cinemas.

Most certainly!!! But we benefit from it (I hope) as we have a stake in the franchise being alive == fandom being alive.

While fandom is doing ~fine. There is a lot to be said for new info/new stuff to talk about in general giving us a good shot in the arm. (even if it's just to inspire us to write fic about how those new facts ARE SO WRONG.
