One Word Prompts

I think it's a good day for another one word prompt fest. Due to cold medication I make no claims to any of the words I write making any sense but that's never stopped me before. and just feel like having a bit of fun and hope you'll join me!

So.

Comment with two characters and a one word prompt.

1) See a prompt you like? write it!!! word count is not an issue - this is a distraction/writing exercise. Just have fun. paragraphs and sentences are still awesome fills.

Spencer/Brendon, restraint

I have never actually posted any Panic fic before, I hope it doesn't suck :D?

The first time Spencer does it, he just wants Brendon to stop fidgeting all over the place, stop picking at his cuticles, stop annoying all of them. Brendon gets nervous, sometimes, before they go on stage, and a nervous Brendon is an annoying Brendon, basically.

Spencer's not even sure Ryan and Brent know that this is Brendon being nervous. Spencer, though, Spencer's spent kind of a lot of time watching Brendon (kind of more than he's willing to admit, even to himself, really) and he knows how to tell jittery excited Brendon and jittery nervous Brendon apart. The Brendon before they go on stage is usually the nervous one.

So one evening, Brendon seems to be especially nervous for some reason. They're in the green room, sitting on a couch with a few stains on the cushions that Spencer's very carefully not thinking about. Brendon's fidgeting, kind of a lot, and when Brent looks like he's about to punch Brendon in the face, and Brendon's fingers are bleeding in at least two places, Spencer reaches out and grabs Brendon's wrists, not particularly hard, just a firm grip. He just wants Brendon to stop poking Brent, stop picking at his cuticles, just for a few seconds, but Brendon goes still. Not just his hands, kind of all over. He sort of melts into the couch cushions and seems to settle into himself. Huh, Spencer thinks.

Spencer looks up from where his hands are wrapped around Brendon's wrists. Brendon's eyes have gone dark, darker than Spencer's ever seen them.

"Oh," Brendon says, kind of breathily. Okay, Spencer thinks.

And then Zack's telling them they're on in ten and they really need to get a move on, and Spencer lets go of Brendon's wrists. Brendon doesn't go back to fidgeting, though, like Spencer had been kind of expecting.

After that it sort of keeps happening. It's not every night or anything, just, occasionally, when Brendon seems to need it, Spencer will grab his wrists and hold on for a few seconds. Sometimes that's not enough; sometimes Spencer has to hold on for several minutes, tighten his grip almost to the point of pain, for Brendon to get to that place where he sort of relaxes into himself, into Spencer's grip.

Sometimes, Spencer wants to do it even when Brendon doesn't really seem to need it. He likes the way it makes him feel, too, making Brendon go still like that. He had to get over his reaction to touching Brendon (blushing and stuttering, mostly, which was kind of embarrassing and Ryan was starting to look knowingly at Spencer whenever it happened) pretty quickly once they were on tour. They were pretty much living in each other's back pockets anyway, and also, Brendon's the most tactile person probably ever, and he's constantly touching Spencer, so Spencer just had to suck it up and deal with it.

Spencer's mostly cool with touching Brendon now, but there's something about this, something about wrapping his hands around Brendon's wrists and feeling Brendon go still in his grip, that does something to Spencer, that just feels right. Spencer's had to be careful not to do it just because he wants to.

Of course, sometimes they both need it, like before their first show after Reading. After seeing Brendon just go down like that after being hit with the bottle, well, Spencer sure as fuck needs it then. Brendon obviously does too, probably more than he has for at least a few months, understandably.

So Spencer wraps his hands around Brendon's wrists, maybe a little harder than he usually does, and Brendon lets out a deep breath. He's stilling already, and Spencer's reminded of the way he'd looked right after getting hit with the bottle. Seeing Brendon this still is unusual, he moves around a lot even in his sleep, and he's only ever this still when Spencer holds onto his wrists like this. Or when he gets hit with a bottle, apparently.

So that was a lot like this, except it really, really wasn't, not in the least. Because when he'd seen the bottles start flying toward the stage, had seen Brendon go down, there hadn't been anything he could do, not a single fucking thing. Brendon was front and center while Spencer was useless behind his drum kit. This, though, this is all about Spencer protecting Brendon. He hadn't really realized that until now, how protective he gets of Brendon when Brendon goes still like this.

So every now and then Spencer keeps holding onto Brendon's wrists to still him, and he'd maybe think it was weird except he's spent the last few years of his life on tour and he's seen a lot of weird shit. Really, this is nothing.

And if he sometimes jerks off thinking about the way Brendon's eyes go dark when Spencer holds onto his wrists, the way Brendon's wrists feel under Spencer's hands, well. He jerks off thinking about Brendon kind of a lot anyway, so it's not like this is any different.

Spencer's on the bus (when isn't he on the bus, anyway, recently his life's been all bus all the time, with the occasional break for a show or a hotel night) and Brendon comes in, looking kind of nervous. Not the jittery nervous that's made Spencer grab Brendon's wrists so many times, though, this is more of an excited, anticipatory nervous.

"Hi," Brendon says, sitting down next to Spencer on the couch.

"Hi," Spencer says.

"So," Brendon says. He's blushing a little. Spencer raises an eyebrow.

"Yes?" he says, or he would, except Brendon kisses him and it gets sort of muffled towards the end. So suddenly Brendon's mouth is on Spencer's and before Spencer's brain's even caught up to this (because what the fuck Brendon is kissing him) Brendon's pulling back. Spencer makes kind of a sad noise in his throat and definitely does not pout.

"What," Spencer says, because his brain isn't quite in the game yet.

"Um," Brendon says. "So I think you should kiss me some more, if you want, that is, and also, um, maybe you could, like, hold onto my wrists while you do?"

That sort of jolts Spencer's brain awake, and as he looks down, he sees that Brendon's got his hands stretched out towards Spencer, wrists together.

Spencer reaches out.
