so... apparently cars need brakes. especially when driving on highways.

yeah. good to know.

today was NOT a good day.

(and before I freak anyone out - I'm fine, the family is FINE. The car is not.)

I did, however, get 75% of my Christmas shopping done before car decided brakes were optional.

faithwood's is doing a holidays fest Harry/Draco rec signal boost thingy - sort of a one stop shop for what Harry/Draco fics are being recced this season. (which is super cool if you feel like you have no reccers on your flist, or if you are a reccer with not many H/D readers on your flist).

since lj is being wonky, i'm keeping a list on DW of direct links to hd_holidays fics that are hosted off-lj. just in case I'm ever in the mood to read and lj is being a bitch.

Brakes are helpful.
Glad to hear you're A'OK!

Last winter my mom had the same thing happen to her. She had a gut feeling to leave work early, since a serious snow storm was just starting. She found out quickly her brakes weren't working. We learned later all 4 brake lines rusted out and the brake fluid had completely drained out. I still don't know how made it home without an accident (she tells me it involved a lot of shifting down to a lower gear). She even managed to back the car into the driveway.
