The corridor is brightly lit and perfectly pristine: gleaming floors, white walls, little faeries flapping their wings. (Faeries instead of fans, now that's a case of Magical Creature abuse, where's Hermione and her rights movements?) Witches and wizards are all at work, and they are busy working, because that's what people at the Ministry do.

And Harry is one of them, he's a responsible adult, for fuck's sake, he's at work and he is working, sort of. He's a Ministry official.

He's so fucking bored.

Really, what could possibly happen to the Deputy Head Auror in broad daylight, in the Ministry building full of pencil pushers bored out of their minds? Well, an origami memo could try poking his eye out, but there, caught and crumpled, die in a fire, animated paper crane. Ha.

Wait, was it pink? Isn't pink for emergencies?

Whatever. It flew from Magical Weather Modifications, what emergency could those cloud-poking folks have?

So, walking down the corridor, left or right, the loo or the canteen, Merlin on a rotten broomstick, what to do to pass the bloody time–

Why are all these people running from a cloud? Honestly, who would run from a cloud, it's not a Hippogriff, guys—

Wait, who let a cloud run amok in a Ministry corridor?

So, a crazy cloud chasing Harry bloody Potter on his way to the men's room, witches and gentlewizards, just another day at the Ministry of Magic, no sarcasm or smirking, please, that means you, Malfoy.

Malfoy, why are you stalking the angry cloud that's stalking me?

Oh. Yeah, sorry about that. Well, in the future, I'll know that pink ninja paper cranes are portents of your fuck-ups. In the meantime, can we do something before your stupid cloud rains on me some more, or are you going to stand there all glassy-eyed?

What do you mean, it rains sex pollen?

Malfoy- mmmph.

Oh, well, just another day at the Ministry.

This is one brilliant fic idea that can turn itself into an EPIC fic! I was so very very amused by the idea of a cloud chasing a hero and being chased by a smirky ex-DE with a secret weapon that would make Charles Darwin proud... *smirks and giggles*

I thought about you when I wrote that. Seriously. It was one of those 'What Would Pie Do' moments. :D ♥

There's no way I could have nailed the language like you do though... that was what really made it so funny. The way the story was told—with a wink in the eye and not the, dunno how to explain it, distorted facial expressions that some comedians do to try to make sure the audience is "in" for a joke :)
