I think Gwen is basically really confused. Yes. And really... I don't blame her. People don't treat her well and never say what they mean and leave her without asking what she wants. >:(
However, as a sub-plot that is to develop into a main-plot, it feels like messy storytelling. Unless they are confusing her to drive her insane and make her into the next Voldemort. Yes, I could get behind that! :)
Maybe she turns to Gawain in hopes she can have a NORMAL relationship? see... not to overthink it... but is Gawain a knight? if so then he's still 'out of her league'
and just like Arthur and Lancelot, Gawain's just going to be doing Merlin on the side anyway. :)
