Crack Broom changes

[livejournal.com profile] crack_broom made a pretty cool announcement today (well... from my perspective, at least*) details of the changes here

Stuff I'm extra pleased about:
Albus Severus/Scorpius, Rose/Scopius have been moved to 'permanent' status. That means they get their own reccer each month, and the reccer of Next Gen will now concentrate on all the other lovely NG pairings. It's a big change, tbh!

The other things is an increase in the number of rare pair reccers (which is where you ask to rec a particular rare pair for an entire month) and rarest reccer (which is where you have a month to rec ANY rare pair for that month). I've been sitting in the rarest reccer queue since april, 2009! I think I should my add my name to the end of that queue just to hold my spot for 2011. lol.

As someone who is an utter pairing whore, I just adore [livejournal.com profile] crack_broom. It takes time and research and a bit of balls to stand up there for a month and pick 4-8 recs of a pairing and declare to quite a huge comm that you're reccing them a fic or art. But you know what? it works. People look at [livejournal.com profile] crack_broom recs. They notice recs that interest them and are often willing to try something new (either pairing or genre or author) based on a rec. I love that. It's a bit of a bridge across pairings and corners of fandom.

If you are interested in reccing, here are the Gate-way sign-ups. You can rec by pairing (just add you name to the queue and you'll get a comment when your time comes up).

As an aside: I am up for Harry/Draco in August! woot!

On a completely different topic, if you've got a fic about to post for One Plot, Many Pairings, please note my Friday wrap up is going up first thing tomorrow if you want to be on it.

*Yes, I know I'm totally ignoring the firestorm of comments on that CB post, but I've fought my own battles for my own pairings. This time I am staying well out of it. :D

In other news, I finally broke down and changed my setting to default to ?style=mine. It's amazing how happy this has made me. I love of my large font and black on white.

Sorry, hon. I really do feel for folks that have felt slapped by all this. I'm just trying to stay out of it because I do see both sides of the situation but I did feel like I had to talk to my flist about the stuff that affected next gen.

H/D was really low in reccers (like almost empty!) a few months ago and was at risk of being made a rare pair so a bunch of us had to throw our names in. I wouldn't want to see it happen to H/D or to Next Gen or the the new AS/S - but frankly I wouldn't be surprised ... it's hard to keep queues filled consistantly.

I imagine that Snarry will be easily be back in December. *hugs*

(and thanks for scrapping the earlier comments. ILU ♥)

(*g* I can sometimes self-edit. Sometimes)

For a split second I considered signing up to rec there but then sanity took over again. It always stresses me out to rec, and really, I'm primarily a writer, so I think I'll stick with that (lest people start talking about how Snarry is dead again - I swear, we really can't win).

I hope you're right about December, but I dunno. Apparently the mods don't especially appreciate Snape, and since the rules seem to be fairly arbitrary, who's to say they won't change the criteria again then? *shrug*

Now I'm just waiting for Harry/Squid to be promoted to permanent status. LOL.
