Oh, *glee* This turned out so well!!! I love the very concept of it (but then I have a soft spot for drug!fic, heh). I love the twists it takes, too, from our fears at the beginning with Al overdosing, through to a coming-out tale of sorts, to Draco's postwar business problems, to a gorgeous older man 'teaching' moment, NNNNNNNNNNNRG -- oh hi there, exactly what I love about crossgen, so nice to see you -- to, to, I forget where my sentence was going. :D Oh yes, to mutual regard and maybe respect and maybe working together but without fluff or tacking on happy-ever-after, and- and- YAY!
I can hardly pick a favourite part, but one of them is definitely Al trying to drug himself straight (and almost convincing himself it might work, aw), and another is how perfectly IC Draco is when he decides that Al needs to work out his issues with questioning his sexuality on Draco. WIN. That's really hard to do well, it seems to me, walking that line in terms of not making him either old and creepy, old and manipulative, or just old and pathetic. :) You hit it just right: he doesn't need Al, he's doing just fine thanks, but damn, if a hot young Potter is going to land unconscious on his doorstep and wake up a little bit gay, WELL THEN, there's nothing for it but to show him the wonders of a bit of anal sex. :D :D :D And the Scorpius vs. Harry stuff was so nice and subtle and realistic. AND the ending suits the story so well.
