Crack Broom recs
Throughout April, I had the pleasure of reccing Harry/Scorpius at
crack_broom. It was my first time reccing there and I had a ton of fun! I've signed up for Rarest Reccer (a month of reccing art/fics of ANY rare pair). I'm really looking forward to it.
In case you missed my recs this month:
My Harry/Scorpius Crack Broom Recs
Title: Art for the Harry_Scorpius Banner| (Public)
Artist:
stellamoon
Why everyone should read this:
This post has a collection of art that shows the progress from a few sketches to a fantastic banner. The final banner is comprised of four main pieces of art: a Chocolate Frog Card (front and back), a portrait of Scorpius, a post-coital scene and a tackle scene. Each piece is breathtaking on its own, and stunning when placed together. Enjoy.
Title: Beautiful | (Public)
Author:
the_flic (formerly fbowden)
Length/Word Count: 2,872
Why everyone should read this:
This is one of the first Harry/Scorpius fics I read and I haven't been able to get the image of Scorpius in a kilt out of my head since. This fic is an excellent example of one of the most popular premises of Harry/Scorpius fics: a sexy and flirty Scorpius seducing a mature and responsible Harry. Scorpius's outrageousness paired with Harry's inability to resist the temptation is what makes this pairing so delicious.
Title: One Truth| (public)
Author:
accioscar
Length/Word Count: 2,000
Why everyone should read this:
It is difficult to say anything about this fic without spoiling it. The key to this fic is the unexpected ending. But it is not a Gotcha!fic (you know what I mean, the ones that have a such a huge plot-twist ending that every comment says "wow, I didn't see that coming"). The 'plot-twist' simply made me read it again and again to appreciate the brilliance of it. At the heart of the fic, it's about Scorpius's obsession with Harry. You feel it in every line. The author leads the reader through the fic in such an eye-rollingly perfect 'love' that you are tempted to click away. But this is not a simple PWP. For only 2k, it is a fic I thought about for days and weeks and months afterwards. I hope you give it a try.
Title: Accio Romance
Author:
asnowyowl
Length/Word Count: 10k
Why everyone should read this:
This fic is a rare light and funny Harry/Scorpius, with a charming plot and some great one-liners. Scorpius convinces Harry to become a client of his new matchmaking company Accio Romance. The resulting disastrous dates and Draco's constant snide make for a delightful read.
Title: Setting Dreams to Rest | (Public)
Author:
softly_sweetly
Length/Word Count: ~5k
Why everyone should read this:
This fic is a series of 10 drabble-like chapters giving intense glimpses into both Harry and Scorpius's motivation to keep up a truly unhealthy relationship. Their obsession with each other is dark and erotic, a push-pull of need and self-disgust. This fic really highlights the complicated power dynamic of this pairing.
Title: In The Shadow of His Father| (public)
Author:
potteresque_ire
Length/Word Count: 1,800 (100 X 18)
Why everyone should read this:
Potteresque_ire has a beautiful lyrical way of writing. Her fics read like poetry, mesmerizing and intense. The dynamic between Scorpius and his father and the spot on characterisation of father and son, read like a slap across the face. Scorpius's desperate need to be more than his father, paired with the fics compelling imagery of shadow and light, make this a fascinating and original read.
Title: Hell Was Made For Heroes | (public)
Author:
stonegrad
Length/Word Count: 2775
Why everyone should read this:
This is such a beautifully written pwp. The entire fic is tense, and passionate. Stonegrad does a great job of clearly showing the power dynamic of the pairing. I love that Harry is guilt-ridden and yet is unable to stop himself. There a so many single lines in this short fic that speak volumes: he’s tall enough now to place his chin on the shoulder in front of him. Makes you wonder just how long this has been going on.
Title: One More Drop | (Public)
Author:
snegurochka_lee
Length/Word Count: 8,100
Why everyone should read this:
Honestly, I had to read this fic twice to truly appreciate it. The first time through my little shipper heart broke, even though I appreciated the sheer genius of it. The second time through, I fell in love. It's a tale wonderfully spun. Harry absolutely, positively needs information about Draco from Scorpius or the entire financial structure of the wizarding world could collapse. The question is, how far is he willing to stretch his morals to open Scorpius's tightly sealed lips? Um… pretty far. :)
